These are some photos of work in progress for my upcoming exhibition.
A playful exercise, teaching myself about kangaroo form.
I begin my animal sculptures by drawing the form in simple units, then cut these out and place them over clay slabs, to be cut out twice and then formed together to make a three dimensional animal.
The kangas are drying with weights on their feet to prevent the clay from warping.
Ripples cut out, stretched into shape and ready to dry.
Testing, glazes, clay bodies and templates of birds and insects I copied off some wrapping paper.
My gas kiln, loaded with a glaze firing.
